Join me for an unforgettable 3-4 hour excursion, starting at the newly opened Hopetown Museum in Darlington, followed by the Locomotion Museum in Shildon. We will also aim to travel on a return public train journey from Hopetown to Shildon, where I will guide you along the original Stockton to Darlington Railway, passing through the world’s oldest railway station at Heighington.
The guided tour of the Hopetown Museum includes a ride on the immersive time travel experience, as well as a closer look at the railway engines and exhibits. At the Locomotion Museum in Shildon, the tour will cover the historic buildings, including Timothy Hackworth’s house, and the two railway engine exhibition halls.

Celebrate 200 years of the UK’s railway history on an unforgettable 6-8 hour excursion. We’ll begin at the new Hopetown Museum in Darlington, before heading to the Locomotion Museum in Shildon and Preston Park Museum.
Traveling by coach, we’ll first explore Preston Park Museum, then continue to Shildon, where I’ll guide you along the original Stockton to Darlington Railway, passing the world’s oldest railway station at Heighington.
The Hopetown Museum tour includes a ride on the immersive time travel experience and an up-close look at the railway engines and exhibits. At the Locomotion Museum, we’ll tour historic buildings, including Timothy Hackworth’s house, and explore the two railway engine halls.
